Pest management is an essential component of natural resources management, providing a valuable opportunity for human intervention to influence the long-term healh, diversity and value of the natural environment in the Region. The natural resources of this region are invaluable to the regional inhabitants, for conservation and traditional use purposes, and for furture use.
Pest plants and animals threaten the intergrity of the Alinytjara Wilurara NRM region, by impacting on biodiversity through altered ecosystem structure and functioning, by undermining potential industry development, and by reducing access to traditional foods and lifesyyles. The pest management issue is complex and the Alinytjara Wilurara NRM Board has a challenge in bringing all stakeholders together to achieve lasting benefit for the environment and communities of the region.
This strategy presents an important step forward for deveriming the direction of pest management across the AW region into the future.
