Lorraine Rosenberg is the General Manager for the Board.
She has worked in a range of agricultural and research areas and has Biochemistry and Soil Conservation and Environmental Management qualifications. She has significant experience in supporting Aboriginal comuunities through the Aboriginal Integrated NRM Group and has been a member of South Australian State Parliament. Lorraine is the "first port of call" for all operational issues and her key responsiblities include include supporting Board members and ensuring the office runs smoothly.
Neil Collins - Program Leader. Neil will provide strategic advice and direction in development of plans and the Board’s investment strategy and also developing, implementing and evaluating plans and projects to deliver the Board’s programs. Neil will manage all reporting arrangements including overseeing program and project staff to ensure deadlines are met, and producing timely high quality reports. Neil is based in the AW NRM Board’s Adelaide office.
Harald Ehmann - Threatended Species Officer. Harald is responsible for the development and implementation of programs and projects to conserve threatened flora and fauna in the Region. His role is vareid but involves the design, implementation and reporting of robust and scientifically valid monitoring and evaluation programs. Harald will also be responsible for developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation programs for the Board’s projects relating to threatened species. Harald’s experience will enable him toprovide expert scientific advice and assistance to staff and stakeholders relating to threatened species, impact of pest animals and plants and other threatening processes for the AW NRM Board region. Harald is based in Adelaide and Ceduna.
Adam Wood - Knowledge and Information Officer. Adam’s first job was as a Surveyor’s Assistant for the Lands Department (now DTEI – Lands Services Group). Adam has travelled extensively across the state and have been exposed with the use of GPS technology. Having seen its potential, he became involved in GIS (Geographical Information System), studying part time at TafeSA at O’Halloran Hill. In 2006 Adam was transferred indoors to work at Land Services - GIS mapping unit. His roles were to produce land administration maps or customize topographic maps for lawyers from Attorney Generals Department who were directly involved in Native Title and ILUA agreements. Adam is responsible for spatial information support to all of the Board’s programs and projects, in addition to being responsible for maintaining a range of databases. Adam is based in the AW NRM Board’s Adelaide office.
Karan Coombe - Smith - Land and Vegetation Officer.
The Land Condition and Vegetation Officer reports to the Program Leader and is responsible for the development and implementation of delivery of landcondition monitoring programs. Karanhas worked in the South Australian Government for close to thirty years,with the past two and a half years as Alinytjara Wilurara’s Planning andProgram Manager. Previous to that role Karan worked in the Department for Environment and Heritage in the areasof bushfire management and threatened plants. Karan loves Australian native plants andusing them in garden landscape design is a hobby of hers. Aside from that,working full-time and having three school-age children keeps her very busy. Karan was keen to find work where she could focus more on native plants and vegetation, and get out in the bush a bit more often, so her new role with the AW NRM Board as Land Condition and Vegetation Officer should provide this opportunity. Karan has kept the planning component of her old role so this year she willcomplete the comprehensive NRM plan or the region. In her new role she will develop and help set up health and trend monitoring for the region’s land and vegetation. Karan is based in Adelaide and Ceduna.
Joe Stelmann - Fire Officer.
Joe is employed to develop and implement monitoring and evaluation programs for the Board’s projects relating to fire management, with regard to the Board’s monitoring and evaluation framework, national standards and frameworks, State Strategic and Biosecurity plans and project reporting frameworks. He will engage and collaborate with local communities and stakeholders to inform programs and develop cooperative relationships to facilitate implementation. Joe’s experience in previous roles will enable him to provide expert scientific advice and assistance to staff and stakeholders in fire management. Joe is based in Adelaide and Ceduna.
Sophie Keen - Coast and Marine Officer. Sophie is an Environmental Scientist and has been living on the West Coast of South Australia, working in natural resource management for the past five years. Sophie has spent three and a half years working on Eyre Peninsula with rural communities and landholders managing terrestrial and coastal biodiversity. Sophie has been with the AW NRM Board for the past seventeen months, firstly working as a Scientific Officer for the region and has now been employed as their Coast and Marine Officer. The Coast and Marine Officer reports to the Program Leader and is based in Ceduna.Sophie’s new role includes develop and implement monitoring and evaluation programs for the coast and marine environment.
Philippa Schmucker - Program Manager. Philppa’s family comes from the Streaky Bay area and she enjoys kayaking, camping, fishing and surfing. Philippa has previously been working in Western Australia for several years with a Traditional owner group in the central wheatbelt on caring for country projects including flora and fauna surveys, water monitoring, and onground works including erosion control, revegetation and protection of cultural sites. Philippa has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Biodiversity, Environmental and Park Management) and has a strong interest in bringing together traditional and scientific knowledge to care for country. As Program Manager for the AW NRM Board, Philippa is responsible for supporting Aboriginal community involvement in natural resources management. This includes managing projects addressing a range of natural resource management issues including weeds and feral animals, traditional land management, land rehabilitation, monitoring land condition, and providing supervision of on-ground project delivery by land managers. Philippa was employed to engage and collaborate with local communities and stakeholders to develop cooperative relationships to facilitate implementation of projects, raise community awareness and education in relation to natural resources management issues, and influence communities and individuals to adopt practices that progress desired outcomes. Phillipa was attracted to the AW region as the area is relatively untouched and see the extraordinary opportunities to protect and enhance the region. The focus of her role is to support Aboriginal community involvement in natural resource management, and she looks forward to working with community to deliver onground projects to care for their country.
Thuy Phan - Corporate Business Manager. Thuy has 15 years experience in the higher education sector in the areas of corporate governance, HR and financial management, operation and administration management. Thuy reports to the General Manager, she is responsible for the provision of efficient and effective corporate governance and business support activities to the Board, including supervision of the administrative team. Thuy is also responsible for planning, managing and reporting on the Board’s corporate business functions, along with managing support services, contracts, equipment, assets and the provision of office requisites. The Corporate Business Manager in conjunction with the General Manager, is responsible for the formulation of the business plan and monitoring and reporting on progress. Thuy is part of the Board’s senior management team and contributes to informed and effective decision making by reporting to the Board on pertinent areas of responsibility, identifying issues of importance to the Board and communicating to the Board and also to ensure action items and other requests for information are actioned in a timely manner.
Teresa Gurney - Authorised Officer. Teresa has lived in the Coorabie/ Ceduna/ Yalata area for more that forty years. Teresa has practical hands on experience in land management as she manages her own rural property at Coorabie. Before Teresa started working for the AW NRM Board she worked at the local schools as an SSO. In October 2007 Teresa started with the AW NRM Board as a project officer working in the Yalata/ MT region. In that time Teresa has been involved with beach camp site fencing, Mallee fowl monitoring, weed/ feral animal control, rock hole work and camel filming to name a few. In January 2009 Teresa became the Authorised Officer for the AW NRM Board for the Yalata/ MT region, so will now be concentrating mainly on weed/pest control and compliance issues.
Paul Gregory - Project Officer. Paul has lived in the region for the past thirty six years, growing up on a farm north of Penong. Paul has a work background in Diesel Mechanics and Youth Work. Paul’s interests mainly include camping, fishing, four wheel driving, gardening, bird watching and exploring the outback and beaches in the region. Paul also enjoys cooking, playing the guitar and listening to music. Paul has a special interest in caring for and protecting the environment especially in the Far West of the state where he grew up. Paul has also built good working relationships with Anangu on the Yalata and Maralinga Tjarutja lands through his previous roles and is eager to keep working with Anangu in his new role. Paul is particularly interested in learning more about natural resources management in the region and working with Anangu towards preserving the mainly unspoilt beauty the region has to offer.
Garry Ormsby - Executive Support Officer. Garry has worked in Government for thirty four years and half of that time was in Aboriginal Affairs. He has worked for the AW Board for the last three years as Administration and Finance Officer, then Finance Manager and now Executive Officer. Garry is responsible for providing an executive support function to the AW NRM Board and also provides a personal assistant service to the General Manager, in addition to reception and general administration duties.Garry’s interests include sport (football), fishing, travelling and his family.Garry was attracted to the role because he enjoys working in an aboriginal organisation,the challenges, and the variety of work the role offered.
Danielle Rosenberg - Communications Officer. Danielle has worked for the AW NRM Board for the past three years as the Executive Support Officer, that role encompassed some communications responsibilities. Danielle recently won the position as the part - time Communications Officer. Danielle is responsible for providing a range of external communications and marketing strategy including managing the website, newsletters, Board communiqués and media releases. Previous to her role with the Board and the Aboriginal Lands Integrated NRM Group, Danielle worked as a qualified chef for over ten years. She also has her own small dessert business that keeps her busy. Danielle enjoys the challenges and rewards of working in the Alinytjara Wilurara region.
